37 Things I've Learned In 37 Years

Yesterday I turned 37 which for some reason is a little bit of a shocking number to me! I'll admit that I always feel a lot younger than the majority of my friends because I'm not a mom. Also I'm really immature, so there's that.

I'm happy to get older though because the alternative doesn't sound that fun. I'll take all the learning and growing and wisdom that comes along with it too. Cheers to another 37 years (at least)!

Here are 37 things I have found to be true in my 37 years on earth (earf).

  1. Everything you've ever wanted is just outside your comfort zone.
  2. If you didn't struggle to get there, it's probably not worth it.
  3. You are not for everyone and that is ok.
  4. "The Iron never lies...Friends may come and go, but 200lbs is always 200lbs." (-Henry Rollins)
  5. Pizza is natures perfect food.
  6. The greatest give you can give the world is to be exactly who you are.
  7. You will never regret walking away from your computer to read a book.
  8. Hard work beats talent any day of the week.
  9. Busy and productive are two very different things and it's costly to mistake one for the other.
  10. "Someday" is not guaranteed. Tell them you love them, go on that vacation, start that business, make peace with your choices.
  11. You make time for what is important. I don't care what your circumstances are.
  12. Money will probably make your life easier, but it won't make you any happier.
  13. Your reaction is more important than what happens to you.
  14. Pleasure is extremely temporary. Stop trying to feel good and stay disciplined to go after what you really want.
  15. You cannot make everyone happy and you're chipping away at yourself by trying. Stop.
  16. Time is more valuable than money. You can always make more money if you try hard enough.
  17. People are too wrapped up in their own thoughts to be thinking about you. Go into the weight room. Wear the dress. Dye your hair purple. Nobody cares.
  18. There is no such thing as "being ready" so you might as well just start right now. Seriously, if you're waiting to do something I need you to click off this blog and go do it. Now.
  19. Don't compare yourself to her.
  20. You will never regret being outside in nature. Go outside more. Trust me. Just do it.
  21. It doesn't matter what you are good at if you aren't consistent and disciplined enough to practice it over and over.
  22. You deserve to take up space in this world.
  23. It's ok to go against the grain. Everyone will tell you that you're disagreeable or a pain in the ass, but this part of your personality will serve you well in the future.
  24. The more grateful you are for everything you have right now, the more blessings will flow your way.
  25. Turn the page.
  26. Life is going to be a lot different than you pictured it turning out. It's so much better than you imagined.
  27. Invest in yourself regularly.
  28. Stay committed to keeping your body healthy even when it seems like an uphill battle.
  29. The only thing you can really control is your attitude. The good news is that it can make or break your day. Choose wisely.
  30. There will always be someone who has more than you. Trying to keep up with people is a losing battle. Love where you are.
  31. You don't get what you don't ask for. People are not mind readers.
  32. A small step usually goes a long way.
  33. You are your only limit. "They" are not holding you back. You are. So stop it.
  34. Nobody is immune to roadblocks and detours. My entire life is one big detour and I wouldn't change a thing.
  35. Trust your gut. It's ok be wary of things that others are all for. If it feels wrong, it usually is.
  36. Your imperfections are the best part of you.
  37. Love, love, love more.
